Was not a very nice day with lots of rain and cold wind. We drove from W. Yellowstone down past Old Faithful and around to Fishing Bridge with virtually nothing to see in the form of wildlife. We ventured into Hayden Valley and finally had something to watch. We seen 2 cow elk each with calves. One of them kept trying to lead her calf into the river to cross but the little one was having nothing of that. One time he ventured into about his belly and then headed back to land. After that mommy could not get the little fella close to the river. He would get within about 20 yards and take off running the other way. It was funny.

created by picasa2htmlOn up the road close to Otter Creek we seen a lone wolf on the bank of the river. I grabbed my camera and headed back to get some pictures, but just as I got set up he raced into the trees not to be seen again. I was kinda bummed but we got 3 more days in the park so hopefully I will make up for being too slow this time.
After that we made our way on up and over to Norris and up to Mammoth. The rain really came in then. Was hard to see anywhere. Although we had a very good view of a bull elk as he ran out onto the edge of the road right beside us. Other than that it was uneventful until the back side of Mammoth Hot Springs where between the heavy snow and the fog you couldnt see the highway 50 yards in front of you for a short time. So we made our way to Gardiner for our stay at the Absaroka, went up to the Town Cafe and had an awesome dinner and now its time for bed. Gotta be up early in the morning so time to sign off. I cant process my pictures until I get back home but I will share when I can. Good night all!!!
