Trip Report June 19 thru July 1 - Day 5

After some discussion the previous evening about what we wanted to do today, we decided that we wanted to go somewhere we hadn't previously been. So, we all got up early and headed south to the Tetons. Leaving Island Park, and almost all the way down, you have a wonderful view of the Teton Range. Truly spectacular! We stopped in Ashton for a wonderful breakfast and continued on. The views of the Tetons were beautiful. I was already thrilled and we weren't even there yet!

Up and over the pass, we arrived in Jackson. We hung a left and headed up into the Tetons. What a beautiful drive this is! I think we stopped at almost every pullout to make pictures! And who wouldn't?!?! Wispy clouds were already coming in from the west.

We stopped at Cunningham cabin to explore a little and snap a few shots. We continued on to Oxbow Bend, but now the clouds were getting a little heavier. I took some pics, but they didn't have that blue sky I was hoping for. Still beautiful though. Then on to Mormon Row. After seeing everyone's shots here, I had to get some barn pics! Unfortunately for me, the sky was milky, so they didn't turn out as good as I had hoped for, but I took them anyway. After all, can you really get a bad picture there? I think not!

And besides, since they're not exactly what I was hoping for, it just gives me a really good excuse to have to go back there again some day!!

We ended the day with dinner at the Snake River Brewery and a little shopping for souveniers at the Mangy Moose. We have family back home that need some t-shirts!! After a wonderful day in Teton we head back to Island Park.
I can honestly say that Teton is my second favorite place! What a gorgeous place!

Enjoying your trip report so far - thanks! Though I was hoping for an update on the fab 5 - did you hear anything about them while in the park? Haven't seen any updates in awhile...

Didn't hear anything about the fab 5 while we were there. We passed by their 'spot' at least six times but never caught them. I am convinced that they were there, just out of sight, laughing as we drove by!!

It's been years now since I made the side trip down to the Tetons but the scenery never disappoints, does it?

No Jeff, it definitely doesn't disappoint! Teton is beautiful. I am determined that the next time we go, we are going to spend a night in Jackson and be at Oxbow for sunrise, and then on to Schwabacher, and over to Mormon Row....all before those pesky clouds show up!! ;)
