I took my kids up to Yellowstone this weekend so that I could show them the place that I love going too. We stayed in Grant Village a place I have never stayed in. It was nice other then the dogs barking at 6 in the morning. On the first day we were able to see a black bear and my kids loved it. Didn't see much more then that. On the second day we decided to get up at 5:30 and start the day. Okay maybe I decided to get up at 5:30. My kids were troopers they are 6 and 9. We were heading to Trout Lake to do the hike. On are way we stopped by mud volcano and my kids got to walk behind and I mean a ways behind a bison even though they wanted to go ride him. I tried to explain why they couldn't don't know if they understood. Next was the upper and lower falls and they enjoyed the time there. When we went over Dunraven we saw the grizzly with the two cubs and my daughter (6) loved it. My son was asleep. We got to the Yellowstone picnic area and saw a bighorn sheep. When we got to Trout Lake my kids were too tired to hike so we headed back. Went through mammoth saw the elk on the grass and my kids started laughing about it but wanted to get back to camp because they had met a kid they liked hanging out with. So back to camp. On the way we saw two big bull elk. On July 24 my kids talked me into sleeping in so we didn't leave until 9:30. We went to Old Faithful and made the hike up to observation point. Different view and I liked it didn't have the crowds. We went to Madison and my kids completed there Jr Ranger badges. Then on to the construction. After waiting 30 minutes in construction we are heading to the canyon when traffic just stops. We were five cars from the front and I was thinking cool another bear. No it wasn't a bear. We had a lady run by asking if anyone got cell phone service a van just hit a motorcycle. We ended up staying there for another hour. It appeared that two people were on the motorcycle and one of them was okay not sure about the other he was moving but not getting up. I decided once we got passed it that we would see if we could see the bears on Dunraven again and sure enough she was there. We were on the side of the rode with a big group of people watching her. She tried to cross the rode about 100 yards away from us but to many people so she turned around and headed back down the slope. She then decided to turn and come at us. I grabbed my kids and started to walk backwards as the ranger was yelling at everyone to get back. The problem was I was at the front and a group of people fifty or so were behind me and I couldn't move. The bear got spooked and went back down the hill. I was nervous and decided it was time to go. On the way back down to camp we saw three big mule deer. On July 25 we headed home. We went through the Tetons and in Willow Flats we saw a bunch of elk running around. When I looked closer there were three wolves chasing them. The wolves disappeared and we spent the next hour waiting for them to come back. Did see them once in the willows but that was it. What away to end my trip. I will try to post pictures later and my kids had a blast.
