created by picasa2html After that the weather went downhill in a big hurry. By the time we got to Norris the snow was piling up on the roads fast. We turned and headed towards Canyon and hit a total blizzard. With visibility at maybe 30 yards and already 2 inches of snow and slush on the road we turned around and headed back towards Mammoth. Do to heavy snow the trip back was totally uneventful.
We then turned at Mammoth and headed towards Tower. The snow was still falling heavily. We turned into Petrified Tree and on the way back out spotted a black bear at the intersection. It crossed the road and headed up the valley towards Petrified Tree. We got a few pictures but with te heavy snow I am not sure how they will turn out.

created by picasa2htmlWe continued towards Tower. Right at the Tower Junction was a big group of people. We stopped and were shown where 2 grizzlies were hanging out on the hill top. Unfortunately the heavy snowfall kept me from getting any good shots of them. We turned and headed towards Cooke City.
After checking into our room in Cooke and eating some lunch we headed back into the park. The snow fall was considerably less. We stopped in Lamar and got some good shots of some baby buffalo fairly close to the road.

created by picasa2html We continued up the road and noticed a large ammount of people at the badger den. They had just gone under when we got there but came back out shortly after getting my camera set up.

created by picasa2htmlWe continued on and I took a hike around the Yellowstone Picnic area but no Bighorns were around. But as we left we seen one ram across the highway.

created by picasa2html We took a left at the junction and spotted a black bear almost immediately.

created by picasa2htmlAfter that we turned back around to head back to Cooke. We noticed the mother moose by trout creek. The baby was nowhere to be seen and she looked very grumpy so we didnt stay long. We reutrned to Cooke for the night.
